Dolomite-zirconia reaction sintered bonded coarse magnesia ceramics: effect of the bonding proportion

نویسندگان

چکیده

Refractory ceramic materials were manufactured, mainly composed of magnesia grains (coarse and medium fraction) CaZrO3/MgO as a binding phase produced from the reaction sintering between CaMg(CO3)2 (dolomite) m-ZrO2 (monoclinic zirconia), which constituted finer fraction. Different relationships proportion size different aggregates studied. The microstructure was characterized in terms density, crystalline phases, grain distribution, morphology. A combination X-ray diffraction analysis scanning electron microscopy with microanalysis used. mechanical behavior determined room temperature dynamic Young’s modulus 3-point bending rupture (MOR) at temperature. All remained porosities above 30%. developed similar sintered materials, MgO coarse bonded by CaZrO3/c-ZrO2 dispersed irregularly shaped pores. MOR directly related to fraction content composition, where higher quantity resulted MOR.

Resin cementation of zirconia ceramics with different bonding agents

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of sandblasting and different chemical bonding agents on shear bond strength of zirconia and conventional resin cement. In this study, 35 zirconia specimens were treated as follows: Group I: control; Group II: sandblasting; Group III: sandblasting + Monobond S; Group IV: sandblasting + Monobond Plus; Group V: sandblasting + Z-Prime Plus. The spe...

THE EFFECT OF GRAPHITE ADDITION ON CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF TAR BONDED DOLOMITE REFRACTORIES IN STEELMAKING CONVERTER

Abstract: Dolomite based refractories are widely used in Iranian steelmaking plants. In the present research, wear and corrosion of refractories used in steel-making converter lining in Esfahan Steel Company was studied. Post-mortem analysis of refractories clarified that the wear started with oxidation of carbon followed by chemical corrosion. Iron oxide from slag reacted with calcia, resu...

The Comparison of MgO and TiO2 Additives Role on Sintering Behavior and Microstructures of Reaction-Sintered Alumina-Zirconia-Mullite Composite

Alumina-Mullite-Zirconia ceramic composites were prepared by reaction sintering of alumina, zircon mixture and the sintering aids of magnesia and titania at temperatures of 1400 and 1600 C for 2 hours. The development of different phases and microstructures of the composites were analysed to assess the relative influence of the additives on the formation of alumina-zirconia-mullite compos...

INFLUENCE OF MAGNESIA ADDITION ON HYDRATION OF IRANIAN DOLOMITE

ABSTRACT Dolomite refractories have a good production potential in Iran due to the existence of high-quality dolomite ore in many regions of the country, particularly in Isfahan and Hamedan. The basic problem associated with the production and use of this type of refractories is inherent tendency to hydration of calcined dolomite. One of the methods to overcome this problem is to increase the...
